@Mikex, @ilyaigpetrov, thanks for your hints; nowadays there are still plenty of x86 distributions (also Slax based on Debian); I was just asking if it is planned to publish Slackware 32 bit.
I know 32 bit systems are obsolete, but Slax can be used as a "portable" OS, so, if I find a 32 bit machine, in emergency or for kids, I can use Slax also on it.

Is it possible to install or create a persistent drive to use Slax or install it?

Hello, I gave a try to this new KDE-Slax on USB key, I love it, but persitence doesn't work.
Il also tried the perch option at boot, it doesn't work either.

Now that the Slackware version is back, is it possible to update the Slax Modules Tool page with new modules?

I am using the debian version of Slax and I can't compile the drivers to my wifi device because it is not possible to install the linux-headers.

The command "apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r)" does not install the headers and shows the following error messages:

E: Unable to locate package linux-headers-5.10.92

So I installed the latest version of linux-headers (apt-get install linux-headers-generic), and symlinks the directories to replace 5.10.92 manually, now the driver compiles but the compiled driver doesn't work. An error message saying that the module format is invalid is shown:

$ sudo insmod rtl8188fu.ko
insmod: ERROR: could not insert module rtl8188fu.ko: Invalid module format

It seems that the newer version of the linux headers is incompatible with the slax kernel, I have tried other older versions but none have worked. The linux-headers should be pre-available in the slax iso image, this would avoid a lot of problems.
Maybe if I update the Slax kernel this can be fixed. Can I update the Slax kernel and remaster the ISO?

I installed the 15.0, 64 bit as a virtual machine in VBox. No problems at all except, I cannot use apt as I get a "command not found" error. I checked /etc and there is no apt directory, which should be as /etc/apt. I don't know how to install apt. Also, after shutting down and trying to boot (or restart) I get a VBox error that no media is found and I have to delete the machine and reinstall it in VBox. That's not very useful I'm just tinkering so far but I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Just a note that cliking the internet icon brings up a suggestion to install Chrome, which Slax did by itself.
I tried using slckpkg command to install Mplayer and apparently slckpkg needed updating which I did. Still can't install packages. Libreoffice would be nice.

I still regularly use Slax 6.x because despite trying a ton of other LiveCD's over the years since, none of them (including later versions of Slax) can measure up. I'm hoping so much that Slax 15.x being Slackware based can eliminate my need to carry a distro from 2009 around with me, but I still have to deal with some 32-bit x86 machines. PLEASE offer a 32-bit version. Even if you can't give it the same care and attention the 64-bit build gets. Please don't kill off 32-bit support in Slax. Please!!

Tomas will be posible to create compat32 module for 64bit slackware edition ? i know there exist some from Slackware Live project but this one are too big. and i try to convert some packages from slackware, direct from slackware dvd (xfce4) and txz2sb create sb modules but after new start of slax this create dirs with this content of sb not integrated to live system, its bug or is it correct?

Hello, I have a problem when doing an apt update I get an error in some of the official Debian 11 repositories, and I can't even install anything. I hope you solve it.

I have the same problem too. How do you change the /etc/resolv.conf file in order to fix the dns??.
When I did the module and I moved it to module folder, after modify /etc/resolv.conf file in the system, I could see that changes not be apply because the changes of that file isn't catch by savechanges and I could be sure of this when I did dir2sb. So, please tell me, how I do that?

Hi. Thanks for creating Slax :)

But I have three issues with Slax 15 (and I post them here since I didn't found a bugtracker):

1) firefox doesn't start after installation with "slackpkg install firefox".
Error said something like lbdxxxxx.xx is missing.
I accepted to install all 3 corresponding packages which have been shown as mandatory.

2) Installation of Chrome is not persistent.
After installation via context menu (first time use of "Webbrowser") I configured Chrome and use savechanges and copied the sb-file to the target folder mentioned in the documentation.
However after restart (copy to ram) I needed to install and reconfigure Chrome again, though my bookmarks persisted.

3) Change of screen resolution is not persistent.
It's basically 4k and I changed it 2560x1660.


Is it possible to fix these issues?

Just tried the Slax - v11.4.0 on my old laptop and it work well unless the network can't connected to the internet. Ping to my local network are fine but ping to internet ip or domain doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue ?
I can't install VLC and Chrome because of this issue

Basically the contents of /etc/resolv.conf are wrong. Edit the file, delete the lines there and put a single nameserver line with the IP of your router and see if that fixes it. If so, consider removing /etc/resolv.conf and replacing with a link pointing to /run/connman/resolv.conf, the file maintained by connmand. This would work in the more general case if you used Slax in different environments (which might have different router IPs). If you always use it on the same home network, just editing /etc/resolv.conf should be enough.

modular that they could have it possible for each different distribution.

And being able to customize it if possible. I remember having used slax many years ago

I'm sorry but slax11.4 doesn't work, the name resolution is not done (it was perfectly done with slax11.3).
The problem comes from "/etc/resolv.conf" which contains "nameserver 8.8.8.8" and "nameserver 8.8.4.4" under slax11.3 and while it contains "nameserver 10.0.0.2" under slax11.4.

So i ve made a script which contains this code

There seems to be a big problem with SLAX 11.4 with ext4, EFI and Nvidia graphic cards.

Ext4 stick does not show up, when CSM mode is deactivated. FAT32 stick shows up, but boot crashes. Swapping my Nvidia GT1030 with an ATI X1550 finally worked. But that issue only refers to EFI mode, legacy mode is not the problem.
