Quantum OS now renamed to Papyros
Some time ago I wrote a post about Quantum OS, an operating system designed to follow Material Design guidelines. It has been renamed for the second time now and it's name is now Papyros.
If this works, I'm going to release new Slax with this desktop instead of KDE. This is very exciting. There is no ETA of course, it can take many months, but I think it's worth to wait.

Lxqt 0.9 out. I'm betting on that horse. Be nice to see a wayland in usable form tho
Halo, folks. How do i install Slax 7.0.9 on the same hard drive as my Windows XP.Isit possible.I already have partitioned the hard drive to ext.4 for linux using gparted. The hard drive also has a partition for linux swap. The linux partition is visible on Windows XP.
thanks
I want to ask if there is any customization service for Slax Live CD? I mean some people may want touchable CDs instead of ISO files? USB Pen drive is good but in my opinion, CD is better. And I believe in Kingston.
ZdravÃm a už se těšÃm. Kdo si poÄká ten se doÄká. DÃky a držÃm palce!!!
Definitely looking forward to seeing this in Slax. I really think its time for a Desktop Environment change.
im looking for a more minimal gui distro. for a charity project im working on. any help there would be nice.
Thx for Slax. Is great:)
I need a little eternity to found a Linux, that is small, easy to use and troublefree.

I understand not many from linux, so sorry for this stupid question, but:
I have create a directory under a partition from my internal hdd named slax, as location to downloading slax-related software (e:\slax). So after a reboot and start of slax from usb-drive, slax scan at start after directories named slax and found my directory and stop his work after found at. Is not the problem, i rename this directory, but this new papyrus, make that the same mistake? I think is it not necessary, to scan more as USB/CD after the slax-directory, or? Again, is only a question:)
Just a general question but are you going to add the forum back, I had to find it on another site that records old web pages I couldn't find it here.
I am so excited to see this... how is it coming with implement Papyros to Slax?
many s.ops. like Puppylinus and Porteus and others has developed this project....
I think that they are copied from Slax, also......
but Slax remain the more efficent and light s.o...... can't you copy parts of new programs for faster developement of your project ?
thanks...
Would you consider add UEFI support in the next release of Slax? New laptops are using UEFI by default, and the current release can't boot.
I can't launch Google-Chrome
root@slax:~# /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libgconf-2.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
greetings from El Salvador!!

in win7 or win8 slax work if bios - boot is setup for LEGACY and fdd is selected....
but slax can't see the h.disk with dolphin...
note: delete-change files in win s.o. isn't a good idea...system is always online with windows servers ...
Hey as i didnt see any where to do a request i do it here ;)
Would love some music apps like Qtractor, Qsynth qjackctl etc
and maybe xfce4 slax portable?

This is awesome. If only there was a way to download zipped folders of all the programs in each category. I'm downloading each, that's under 100 MB, to conserve space on my class-x (10) 16 GB micro SD, and hosting all the program files there along with saved webpages containing the descriptions. I also love how a simple program is less that 10 KB, that's spectacular. Can't wait to try this out.
I'm wondering for light linux (under 1GB) with fast booting; beautiful desktop effect (like compiz) animated icon (wbar/cairo) as a default; easy install module and huge module repo (like old slax) ; desktop environment can be vary (XFCE; LXDE; MATE or any as long its lite). Papyros looks good too...
Waiting for a new fresh looking "SLAX"
I love Slax (Old) ; now I use Porteus but I always missing waiting loving "SLAX".
why don't you compile it with kde 4?
kde 4 icons but this desktop or vice versa is all ok for me
I search a mini OS. that find in internet Slax one of 5 mini OS.
I download it. CD iso and USB module.
but it is run in command mode. not graphical mode.
I want a mini Os that have graphic mode and pdf reader and internet browser and mini file manager such NC for dos.
and I don't find any user manual for Slax that I start it for work.
can you help me?
I took another look at Papyros and I'm very excited because it will have Wayland and Qt.
I am moved from MS to linux (Elementary) to OSX and now using Chrome OS as my main system, the world is changing, we like systems as fast as our android or IOS tab/pad/Handphone... open the lid, and working. Chrome OS is perfect, simple to use, consistent user interface, but lacks the ability to run applications. I appreciated the minimal approach of ElementaryOS, but for whatever reason I am not able to install the new version anymore on several systems at my office. The best linux system was Puppy and Slax with the ability to run in memory, only disadvantage, the userinterface, employees adopted automatically ElementaryOS and GromeOS. A Papyros like userinterface would be my solution... when it has integration with GDrive and chrome as browser. Easy updates, just a new USBstick, no employees who spend 30 percent of their time to manage their Windows10, waiting for updates a half day... super-fast working environment because everything runs in memory.
Long time no see.
This DE is gorgeous and it seems more lightweight than KDE. Good choice! Wait for Slax with this DE.
